I called in an order and went to pick it up. The lady behind the counter was very nice.i paid about 12 dollars for hibachi steak. ( no mushrooms) when i got home amount of food was great! Probably enough for 2 meals. But the taste was just bland with no flavor. They had shaved carrots in the rice and when you get them in your mouth it feels like a hair or string in your food. Also the had egg I. The rice and it was like rubber. Even the shrimp sauce was bland. I’ve ate here before and it was pretty good so maybe it was just an off day.

I had been told over and over again that Mount Pleasant Japanese Express was one of those hidden gem places with surprisingly good food, even though it’s tucked into the back of a gas station. Unfortunately… my experience kind of matched exactly what the location made me expect. I got the hibachi, and honestly, I couldn’t even finish it. The food didn’t taste fresh, the quality felt low, and overall it just was not cooked well. It genuinely felt like gas station food—not in a charming hidden-gem way, but in the “I regret spending money on this” kind of way. I really wanted to like it because people had hyped it up so much, but I just can’t recommend it. There are much better places nearby if you want Japanese or hibachi-style food.

The hibachi is delicious!! My favorite is chicken and shrimp hibachi with noodles with mushrooms and broccoli. It is so good! I can never get a picture because I eat every bite when I open up the box. Update: I finally got a picture!!!
